Thonet & Vander "Dass" & "Laut" 2.1 Speaker Systems

  • Your choice of standard (“Dass”) or Bluetooth-enabled (“Laut”) 2.1 speaker sets made by Hans Christian Anderson characters Thonet & Vander
  • 2.1 just means it has two small speakers and a subwoofer
  • You can use them as very nice computer speakers or sorta nice normal speakers
  • They both feature “Howl Bass technology,” which sounds scary
  • We could list all the wattages and dynamic ranges and so forth, but it’s easier to say “they sound good” (and you can check the specs link below if you want to dig in)
  • Model: HK096-03526, HK096-03557 (Wonder how Harmon-Kardon feels about another speaker company starting their model numbers with “HK.” Probably not much, since brands don’t have feelings)

Dass Hoot

The “Dass” And “Laut” speakers from “Thonet & Vander?” LOLz. What’s the deal with this company — they foreign or something? Looks like they’re taking the Ikea approach of giving their products silly names, like they don’t even speak American or something.

Or maybe they’re trying to draft on the “Klipsch” brand. These are basically cheaper Klipsches after all. Klipschi? Klips? Or maybe the plural of “Klipsch" is “Klipsch". We don’t even know how to pronounce “Klipsch,” to be honest.

And that’s on us, come to think of it. We’re sitting here making fun of foreign companies for giving their products foreign names, but why shouldn’t they? They probably speak English better than we’ll ever speak another language. We’re obviously jealous and lashing out at poor Thonet & Vander.

You know what? We should learn German. We’ve always thought about it — imagine enjoying the works of Goethe, Nietzsche, and … others … in their mother tongue!

No more excuses. We’re downloading the German Duolingo right now. Here we go. Really doing it.

Eins … zwei … drei … vier … uhhh … funz?

God this is hard. We’ll never appreciate the intricate wordplay of Nietzsche if we can’t count to ten. We’re failures. Abject failures.

At least “Dass” and “Laut” are still silly names for speakers. Hehehe. “Dass.”
