The proper etiquette for a "Gone Fishin" sign stipulates that the sign be posted outside your home so that any surprise visitors you have will know that you have actually gone fishing and aren't ignoring them. Exceptions are only made for novelty "Gone Fishin" signs in aquariums because everyone agrees that those are just really funny.
